Alpha Normix Forte is an antibiotic that works by inhibiting bacterial RNA synthesis, leading to the death of susceptible bacteria. It is primarily active against a wide range of gram-positive and gram-negative, aerobic and anaerobic bacteria that reside in the gastrointestinal tract.Indications:
- Treatment of traveler's diarrhea
- Reduction in the risk of overt hepatic encephalopathy recurrence
- Treatment of irritable bowel syndrome with diarrhea (IBS-D)
- Treatment of small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO)
Contraindications:
- Hypersensitivity to rifaximin or any of the components of the drug
- Intestinal obstruction
- Severe hepatic impairment
Side effects:
In order of decreasing probability: Nausea, Vomiting, Abdominal pain, Headache, Dizziness, Fatigue, Flatulence, Constipation, Fever, Rash
