- Prevention of myocardial infarction
- Prevention of stroke
- Management of unstable angina

Contraindications:
- Hypersensitivity to acetylsalicylic acid or other salicylates
- Active peptic ulcer disease
- Hemorrhagic diathesis
- Severe renal or hepatic impairment
- Asthma induced by salicylates or NSAIDs
- Children and adolescents with viral infections due to risk of Reye's syndrome
- Pregnancy (especially third trimester) and lactation
