Pharmachologic effect:

Brufen SR is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that provides anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antipyretic effects by inhibiting the synthesis of prostaglandins, which are mediators of inflammation and pain.

Indications:


  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Ankylosing spondylitis
  • Mild to moderate pain
  • Primary dysmenorrhea

Contraindications:


  • Hypersensitivity to ibuprofen or any of the excipients
  • History of gastrointestinal bleeding or perforation related to previous NSAID therapy
  • Active or history of recurrent peptic ulcer/hemorrhage
  • Severe heart failure
  • Severe liver or kidney impairment
  • Third trimester of pregnancy

Side effects:


In order of decreasing probability: Nausea, Dyspepsia, Diarrhea, Headache, Dizziness, Rash, Edema, Hypertension, Gastrointestinal bleeding, Peptic ulcer

Dosing and Administration:


The recommended dose of Brufen SR is 1600 mg per day, taken as a single dose or in divided doses. The tablets should be swallowed whole with water and taken preferably with or after food to minimize gastrointestinal discomfort.

Storage:


Store at a temperature not exceeding 25°C (77°F).
