Angeliq®
Each Angeliq® tablet contains 1mg of 17β-estradiol, which is chemically and biologically identical to human endogenous estradiol, and 2mg of synthetic progestogen, drospirenone. 17β-estradiol provides estrogen replacement in the female body during and after menopause. The addition of drospirenone provides control of bleeding and prevents the development of estrogen-induced endometrial hyperplasia. If a woman does not take estrogens or switches to Angeliq® from another continuous combination drug, she can start treatment at any time. Patients who switch to Angeliq® from a combination drug for cyclic HRT should start taking after the end of the current cycle of therapy.
Each package is designed for a 28-day intake.
One tablet should be taken daily. After the end of the reception 28 tablets from the current package, the next day start a new package of Angeliq®, taking the first tablet on the same day of the week as the first tablet from the previous package.
The time of day when a woman takes the drug does not matter, however, if she started taking the pills at any particular time, she should stick to this time and beyond. The forgotten tablet must be taken as soon as possible. If more than 24 hours have passed since the usual time of administration, an additional tablet should not be taken. If several tablets are missed, vaginal bleeding may develop.
