Contraindications:
- Hypersensitivity to pentoxifylline or other methylxanthines
- Recent cerebral or retinal hemorrhage
- Acute myocardial infarction
- Severe coronary artery disease
- Severe renal or hepatic impairment
Side effects:
In order of decreasing probability: Nausea, Dizziness, Headache, Flushing, Dyspepsia, Vomiting, Diarrhea, Chest pain, Palpitations, Hypotension
Dosing and Administration:
The recommended dose is 400 mg taken orally three times a day with meals. Dosage may be adjusted based on patient response and tolerance, but should not exceed 1200 mg per day.
