Contraindications:
- Hypersensitivity to clarithromycin or other macrolide antibiotics

- Concomitant use with certain medications such as cisapride, pimozide, and ergotamine
- History of QT prolongation or ventricular cardiac arrhythmia
Side effects:
In order of decreasing probability: Nausea, Diarrhea, Abdominal pain, Dyspepsia, Headache, Taste perversion, Liver enzyme abnormalities, Rash, Dizziness
Dosing and Administration:
The recommended dose for adults is 500 mg once daily, with or without food. In severe infections, the dose may be increased to 1000 mg once daily. The duration of treatment is usually 7 to 14 days, depending on the type and severity of the infection.
