Nolitsin tablets contain Norfloxacin, a potent antibiotic used to tackle various bacterial infections. It is particularly effective for urinary tract infections and certain types of gastroenteritis. Norfloxacin works by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase, thereby preventing bacterial replication. This medication is taken orally and is absorbed well, offering a convenient treatment option. Nolitsin is often prescribed when other antibiotics are not suitable or effective. Due to its broad-spectrum activity, it is used in outpatient settings. For optimal results, it's essential to complete the prescribed course.

Pharmachologic effect:

Nolitsin is a broad-spectrum antibacterial agent from the group of fluoroquinolones. It acts by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase, which is essential for DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination.

Indications:


  • Urinary tract infections
  • Prostatitis
  • Gastroenteritis caused by susceptible bacteria
  • Gonorrhea
  • Prevention of travelers' diarrhea

Contraindications:


  • Hypersensitivity to norfloxacin or other quinolones
  • Pregnancy and lactation
  • Children and adolescents under 18 years of age
  • Tendon disorders related to fluoroquinolone use

Side effects:


In order of decreasing probability: Nausea, Diarrhea, Headache, Dizziness, Insomnia, Rash, Photosensitivity reactions, Tendonitis

Dosing and Administration:


The recommended dosage for adults is 400 mg twice daily. The duration of treatment depends on the severity and type of infection. For uncomplicated urinary tract infections, the usual duration is 3-7 days. For chronic bacterial prostatitis, treatment may last up to 4 weeks. It is recommended to take the tablets with a glass of water, at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals.
