Norbactin is an antibacterial agent belonging to the fluoroquinolone group. It works by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase, which is essential for bacterial DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination, leading to bacterial cell death.Indications:
- Urinary tract infections
- Prostatitis
- Gastroenteritis caused by susceptible bacteria
- Gonorrhea
- Prevention of recurrent urinary tract infections
Contraindications:
- Hypersensitivity to norfloxacin or other quinolones
- Pregnancy
- Breastfeeding
- Children and adolescents under 18 years
- History of tendon disorders related to quinolone use

In order of decreasing probability: Nausea, Headache, Dizziness, Diarrhea, Insomnia, Rash, Photosensitivity reactions, Tendonitis
Dosing and Administration:
The recommended dose for adults is 400 mg twice daily. The duration of treatment depends on the severity and type of infection. For uncomplicated urinary tract infections, the usual duration is 3-7 days. For chronic bacterial prostatitis, treatment may last up to 28 days. It is advised to take the tablets with a glass of water, at least one hour before or two hours after a meal.
