Furamag is an antimicrobial agent from the nitrofuran group. It has a broad spectrum of activity against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, including strains resistant to antibiotics and sulfonamides. It works by inhibiting bacterial enzymes and disrupting their cellular respiration.Indications:
- Urinary tract infections
- Pyelonephritis
- Cystitis
- Urethritis
- Prostatitis
- Skin and soft tissue infections
- Infections of the female genital tract
Contraindications:
- Hypersensitivity to furazidin or any component of the drug
- Severe renal impairment
- Pregnancy and lactation
- Children under 3 years of age
Side effects:
In order of decreasing probability: Nausea, Vomiting, Headache, Dizziness, Allergic reactions (rash, itching), Loss of appetite
Dosing and Administration:
The recommended dose for adults is 50-100 mg three times daily after meals. For children over 3 years, the dose is 5 mg/kg of body weight per day, divided into 3 doses. The duration of treatment is usually 7-10 days, and if necessary, the course can be repeated after a 10-15 day interval.
