Tolizor is a muscle relaxant that works by blocking nerve impulses (or pain sensations) that are sent to your brain. It is used to treat spasticity by temporarily relaxing muscle tone.Indications:
- Muscle spasticity associated with multiple sclerosis
- Spinal cord injury
- Cerebral palsy
- Post-stroke muscle spasticity
Contraindications:
- Hypersensitivity to tizanidine or any of the excipients
- Severe liver impairment
- Concomitant use with fluvoxamine or ciprofloxacin
Side effects:
In order of decreasing probability: Drowsiness, Dizziness, Dry mouth, Fatigue, Hypotension, Bradycardia, Nausea, Muscle weakness, Insomnia, Hallucinations
Dosing and Administration:
The recommended starting dose is 2 mg taken up to three times daily. The dose may be increased by 2 mg to 4 mg at each dose, with 1 to 4 days between increases, until achieving the desired effect. The total daily dose should not exceed 36 mg.
