Contraindications:

In order of decreasing probability: Nausea, Tremor, Dizziness, Weight gain, Hair loss, Liver dysfunction, Thrombocytopenia, Pancreatitis
Dosing and Administration:
The dosage of Valparin XR is individualized based on patient needs and response. For adults, the initial dose is typically 10-15 mg/kg/day, increasing by 5-10 mg/kg/week until seizures are controlled or side effects preclude further increases. The maximum recommended dose is 60 mg/kg/day. It is usually taken once daily with food to reduce gastrointestinal side effects.
