Motilak is a dopamine antagonist with antiemetic properties. It enhances gastrointestinal peristalsis and accelerates gastric emptying, reducing nausea and vomiting.Indications:
- Nausea and vomiting of various origins
- Gastroesophageal reflux disease
- Dyspeptic symptoms associated with delayed gastric emptying
Contraindications:
- Hypersensitivity to domperidone or any of the excipients
- Prolactinoma
- Gastrointestinal hemorrhage, mechanical obstruction, or perforation
- Moderate or severe hepatic impairment
- Concomitant use with QT-prolonging drugs
Side effects:
In order of decreasing probability: Common: Dry mouth, Uncommon: Anxiety, headache, drowsiness, Rare: Allergic reactions, galactorrhea, gynecomastia, Very rare: Ventricular arrhythmias, sudden cardiac death
Dosing and Administration:
Adults and adolescents over 12 years and weighing 35 kg or more: 10 mg up to three times daily, 15-30 minutes before meals and, if necessary, before bedtime. Maximum daily dose should not exceed 30 mg.
