- Acute treatment of migraine attacks with or without aura in adults.
Contraindications:
- Hypersensitivity to sumatriptan or any of its components
- History of myocardial infarction
- Coronary artery disease or coronary vasospasm
- Peripheral vascular disease
- Stroke or transient ischemic attack
- Uncontrolled hypertension
- Severe hepatic impairment
- Concomitant use with ergotamine or its derivatives
- Concomitant use with another 5-HT1 receptor agonist
Side effects:
In order of decreasing probability: Dizziness, Drowsiness, Flushing, Tingling or numbness, Nausea, Dry mouth, Feeling of heaviness or tightness, Muscle pain, Chest discomfort
Dosing and Administration:
The recommended dose for adults is a single 50 mg tablet taken orally with water. Some patients may require a 100 mg dose. If the migraine persists or returns, a second dose may be taken at least 2 hours after the first dose. Do not exceed 200 mg in 24 hours.
Storage:
Store at a temperature not exceeding 30°C (86°F).
