- Partial seizures with or without secondary generalization in adults and children aged 2 years and older.
Contraindications:
- Hypersensitivity to oxcarbazepine or any of the excipients.
- Severe hepatic impairment.
Side effects:
In order of decreasing probability: Dizziness, Somnolence, Headache, Nausea, Vomiting, Fatigue, Ataxia, Diplopia, Nystagmus, Rash
Dosing and Administration:
The initial recommended dose for adults is 600 mg per day, divided into two doses. The dose may be increased by a maximum of 600 mg/day at weekly intervals, depending on the clinical response. The usual maintenance dose is 600 to 2400 mg per day. For children aged 2 years and older, the initial dose is 8-10 mg/kg/day, divided into two doses, with a maximum increase of 10 mg/kg/day at weekly intervals.
