Pharmachologic effect:

Arifon is a thiazide-like diuretic that reduces blood pressure by decreasing peripheral vascular resistance. It promotes the excretion of sodium and water, leading to a reduction in blood volume and cardiac output.

Indications:


  • Essential hypertension

Contraindications:


  • Severe renal impairment
  • Hepatic encephalopathy
  • Hypokalemia
  • Hypersensitivity to indapamide or any other sulfonamides
  • Pregnancy and lactation

Side effects:


In order of decreasing probability: Common: Hypokalemia, dizziness, headache, Uncommon: Fatigue, nausea, vomiting, Rare: Rash, photosensitivity reactions, thrombocytopenia, Very rare: Hypercalcemia, arrhythmia, pancreatitis

Dosing and Administration:


The recommended dose is one tablet (1.5 mg) taken orally once daily in the morning. The tablet should be swallowed whole with water and can be taken with or without food.

Storage:


Store at a temperature not exceeding 25°C (77°F).
