Betmiga is a beta-3 adrenergic agonist that relaxes the detrusor smooth muscle during the storage phase of the urinary bladder fill-void cycle by activating beta-3 adrenergic receptors, which increases bladder capacity.Indications:
- Treatment of overactive bladder (OAB) with symptoms of urge urinary incontinence, urgency, and urinary frequency.
Contraindications:
- Hypersensitivity to mirabegron or any of the excipients
- Severe uncontrolled hypertension
Side effects:
In order of decreasing probability: Hypertension, Nasopharyngitis, Urinary tract infection, Headache, Dizziness, Constipation, Diarrhea, Nausea, Tachycardia
Dosing and Administration:
The recommended starting dose is 25 mg once daily, which may be increased to 50 mg once daily based on individual patient efficacy and tolerability. Betmiga should be taken with water, swallowed whole, and can be taken with or without food.
