This results in a reduction in blood pressure and an improvement in oxygen supply to the heart muscle.Indications:
- Hypertension
- Chronic stable angina pectoris
Contraindications:
- Hypersensitivity to nifedipine or any of the excipients
- Cardiogenic shock
- Significant aortic stenosis
- Unstable angina
- Acute myocardial infarction (within the first 4 weeks)
- Pregnancy and lactation
Side effects:
In order of decreasing probability: Headache, Dizziness, Flushing, Peripheral edema, Nausea, Fatigue, Palpitations, Hypotension, Rash
Dosing and Administration:
The recommended starting dose is 20 mg twice daily. Depending on the patient's response, the dose may be increased to 40 mg twice daily. Tablets should be swallowed whole with a sufficient amount of liquid, preferably with or after meals. Do not crush or chew the tablets.
Storage:
Store at a temperature not exceeding 25°C (77°F).
