- Treatment of respiratory tract infections such as pneumonia and bronchitis
- Skin and soft tissue infections
- Helicobacter pylori eradication to reduce the risk of duodenal ulcer recurrence
- Acute otitis media
- Sinusitis
Contraindications:
- Hypersensitivity to clarithromycin, other macrolide antibiotics, or any of the excipients
- History of QT prolongation or ventricular cardiac arrhythmia, including torsades de pointes
- Severe hepatic failure in combination with renal impairment
- Concomitant use with drugs that are substrates of CYP3A4 and known to prolong QT interval
Side effects:

Dosing and Administration:
The usual adult dose is 250 mg to 500 mg every 12 hours for 7 to 14 days, depending on the type and severity of the infection. For Helicobacter pylori eradication, the recommended dose is 500 mg twice daily in combination with other medications as part of a combination therapy.
