- Erosive esophagitis
- Zollinger-Ellison syndrome
- Peptic ulcer disease
Contraindications:
- Hypersensitivity to pantoprazole or any other components of the drug
- Severe liver impairment
- Concomitant use with atazanavir or nelfinavir
Side effects:
In order of decreasing probability: Common: headache, diarrhea, nausea, Uncommon: dizziness, dry mouth, abdominal pain, Rare: joint pain, depression, blurred vision, Very rare: severe allergic reactions, liver damage, blood disorders
Dosing and Administration:
The recommended dose for adults is 40 mg once daily. In cases of severe esophagitis, the dose can be increased to 40 mg twice daily. The duration of treatment is usually 4 to 8 weeks, depending on the condition being treated. Tablets should be swallowed whole with water, and can be taken with or without food.
