Indications:

Heart failure
Hypertension
Edema associated with congestive heart failure, cirrhosis of the liver, and nephrotic syndrome
Primary hyperaldosteronism

Contraindications:

Anuria
Acute renal insufficiency
Significant impairment of renal excretory function
Hyperkalemia
Addison's disease
Hypersensitivity to spironolactone or any component of the formulation

Side effects:

In order of decreasing probability: Hyperkalemia, Hyponatremia, Dizziness, Headache, Gastrointestinal disturbances, Menstrual irregularities, Gynecomastia, Rash, Pruritus

Dosing and Administration:

The recommended starting dose for adults is 25 to 100 mg daily, administered in either single or divided doses. The dosage may be adjusted based on the patient's response and clinical condition. It is advised to take the medication with food to enhance absorption.
