Pharmachologic effect:

Texared is a hematopoietic stem cell mobilizer that works by blocking the CXCR4 chemokine receptor, thereby enhancing the release of stem cells from the bone marrow into the bloodstream.

Indications:


  • Mobilization of hematopoietic stem cells to the peripheral blood for collection and subsequent autologous transplantation in patients with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and multiple myeloma.

Contraindications:


  • Hypersensitivity to Plerixafor or any of the excipients.
  • Patients with leukemia.

Side effects:


In order of decreasing probability: Nausea, Diarrhea, Injection site reactions, Fatigue, Headache, Dizziness, Arthralgia

Dosing and Administration:


The recommended dose of Texared is 0.24 mg/kg body weight, administered by subcutaneous injection approximately 11 hours prior to apheresis. The dose should not exceed 40 mg/day.

Storage:


Store at a temperature of 2°C to 8°C (36°F to 46°F).
