Pharmachologic effect:

Thioctic acid, also known as alpha-lipoic acid, is an antioxidant that helps to protect cells from oxidative stress and improves nerve function. It plays a role in the metabolism of glucose and lipids, enhancing energy production in cells.

Indications:


  • Diabetic polyneuropathy
  • Alcoholic polyneuropathy

Contraindications:


  • Hypersensitivity to thioctic acid or any of the excipients
  • Pregnancy
  • Lactation

Side effects:


In order of decreasing probability: Nausea, Vomiting, Gastrointestinal discomfort, Allergic reactions, Skin rash, Hypoglycemia

Dosing and Administration:


The recommended dose is 600 mg once daily, taken on an empty stomach, 30 minutes before breakfast. The tablets should be swallowed whole with a sufficient amount of water.

Storage:


Store at a temperature not exceeding 25°C (77°F).
