- Treatment of postmenopausal women with hormone receptor-positive early breast cancer
- First-line treatment of postmenopausal women with hormone receptor-positive or hormone receptor-unknown locally advanced or metastatic breast cancer
- Treatment of advanced breast cancer in postmenopausal women with disease progression following tamoxifen therapy
Contraindications:
- Hypersensitivity to anastrozole or any of the excipients
- Pregnancy and lactation
- Premenopausal women
- Severe renal impairment
- Moderate or severe hepatic impairment
Side effects:
In order of decreasing probability: Very common: Hot flashes, asthenia, arthritis, arthralgia, headache, Common: Nausea, rash, osteoporosis, bone pain, depression, insomnia, Uncommon: Vaginal bleeding, vomiting, diarrhea, elevated liver enzymes, Rare: Erythema multiforme, anaphylaxis, Stevens-Johnson syndrome
Dosing and Administration:
The recommended dose of Arimidex is one 1 mg tablet taken once a day. It can be taken with or without food. Treatment should continue until tumor progression is evident.
