Pharmachologic effect:

Betaloc Zok is a selective beta1-adrenoreceptor blocker that reduces heart rate, cardiac output, and blood pressure, thereby decreasing myocardial oxygen demand and improving exercise tolerance in patients with angina pectoris. It also helps in controlling heart rhythm and reducing the risk of cardiovascular events.

Indications:


  • Hypertension

Contraindications:


  • Severe bradycardia
  • Cardiogenic shock
  • Second or third-degree heart block
  • Sick sinus syndrome
  • Severe peripheral arterial circulatory disorders
  • Hypersensitivity to metoprolol or any of the excipients

Side effects:


In order of decreasing probability: Dizziness, Fatigue, Bradycardia, Hypotension, Nausea, Diarrhea, Shortness of breath, Cold extremities, Heart failure, Depression

Dosing and Administration:


The recommended starting dose for hypertension and angina is 50-100 mg once daily, which may be increased to 200 mg once daily if needed. For chronic heart failure, the initial dose is 12.5-25 mg once daily, gradually increased to a maximum of 200 mg once daily based on patient tolerance. The tablets should be taken with or without food, preferably at the same time each day.

Store at a temperature not exceeding 30°C (86°F).
