Pharmachologic effect:

Ibuprofen is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that reduces hormones that cause inflammation and pain in the body. It is commonly used to relieve pain, reduce inflammation, and lower fever.

Indications:

• Relief of mild to moderate pain such as headaches, dental pain, menstrual cramps, muscle aches, or arthritis
• Reduction of fever
• Relief of minor aches and pains due to the common cold or flu

Contraindications:

• Hypersensitivity to ibuprofen or any of the excipients
• History of asthma, urticaria, or allergic-type reactions after taking aspirin or other NSAIDs
• Active or history of recurrent peptic ulcer/hemorrhage
• Severe heart failure, hepatic failure, or renal failure
• During the third trimester of pregnancy

Side effects:

In order of decreasing probability: Common: Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, headache, dizziness, Uncommon: Indigestion, abdominal pain, rash, Rare: Peptic ulcer, gastrointestinal bleeding, hypertension, Very rare: Anaphylactic reaction, severe skin reactions, liver dysfunction

Dosing and Administration:

For adults and children over 12 years: The usual dose is 200-400 mg every 4 to 6 hours as needed. Do not exceed 1200 mg in 24 hours unless directed by a doctor. For children under 12 years, consult a physician for appropriate dosing.

Storage:

Store at a temperature not exceeding 25°C (77°F).
