Pharmachologic effect:

Indications:

Essential hypertension

Contraindications:

Severe renal impairment
Hepatic encephalopathy
Hypokalemia
Hypersensitivity to indapamide or other sulfonamides

Side effects:

In order of decreasing probability: Common: Hypokalemia, dizziness, headache, Uncommon: Fatigue, nausea, rash, Rare: Hypercalcemia, arrhythmia, hypotension, Very rare: Pancreatitis, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia

Dosing and Administration:

The recommended dose is one tablet (2.5 mg) taken orally once daily in the morning. The tablet should be swallowed whole with water and can be taken with or without food.
