- Type 2 diabetes mellitus when diet, exercise, and weight loss alone do not result in adequate glycemic control.
Contraindications:
- Hypersensitivity to gliclazide or any of the excipients
- Type 1 diabetes mellitus
- Diabetic ketoacidosis
- Diabetic pre-coma and coma
- Severe renal or hepatic insufficiency
- Concomitant use with miconazole
- Pregnancy and lactation
Side effects:
In order of decreasing probability: Hypoglycemia, Nausea, Vomiting, Diarrhea, Constipation, Abdominal pain, Rash, Pruritus, Erythema, Dizziness, Headache
Dosing and Administration:
The usual starting dose is 30 mg once daily, taken with breakfast. The dose may be adjusted based on the patient's response, with a maximum recommended dose of 120 mg per day. Tablets should be swallowed whole with a glass of water.
