Osterepar
Osterepar contains Alendronic acid, a bisphosphonate used primarily to strengthen bones and prevent fractures in patients with osteoporosis. This medication works by inhibiting bone resorption, allowing for increased bone mineral density. It is often prescribed to postmenopausal women and men at risk of bone loss. Regular intake of Osterepar as directed can significantly reduce the chances of fractures in the spine and hip region. The tablets should be taken with a full glass of water and at least 30 minutes before any food or other medications. - Treatment of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women
- Prevention of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women
- Treatment of osteoporosis in men
- Treatment of glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis
Contraindications:
- Hypersensitivity to alendronate or any component of the formulation
- Esophageal abnormalities which delay esophageal emptying
- Inability to stand or sit upright for at least 30 minutes
- Hypocalcemia
Side effects:
In order of decreasing probability: Gastrointestinal discomfort, Musculoskeletal pain, Headache, Hypocalcemia, Esophageal irritation, Abdominal pain, Nausea, Diarrhea, Constipation, Dizziness
Dosing and Administration:
The recommended dose is one 70 mg tablet once weekly. The tablet should be taken with a full glass of water at least 30 minutes before the first food, beverage, or medication of the day. The patient should remain in an upright position for at least 30 minutes after taking the medication.
Storage:
Store at a temperature not exceeding 25°C (77°F).
