Pharmachologic effect:

Paracetamol is an analgesic and antipyretic agent. It works by inhibiting the synthesis of prostaglandins in the central nervous system and through a peripheral action by blocking pain-impulse generation.

Indications:


  • Relief of mild to moderate pain
  • Reduction of fever

Contraindications:


  • Hypersensitivity to paracetamol or any of the excipients
  • Severe liver impairment

Side effects:


In order of decreasing probability: Rare: Skin rash, Very rare: Thrombocytopenia, leukopenia, Extremely rare: Anaphylactic reactions, Stevens-Johnson syndrome

Dosing and Administration:


Adults and children over 12 years: 500 mg to 1000 mg every 4 to 6 hours as needed, not to exceed 4000 mg in 24 hours. Children 6 to 12 years: 250 mg to 500 mg every 4 to 6 hours as needed, not to exceed 2000 mg in 24 hours.

Storage:


Store at a temperature not exceeding 25°C (77°F).
