Pharmachologic effect:

Prednisolone is a synthetic glucocorticoid with anti-inflammatory, immunosuppressive, and anti-allergic properties. It works by inhibiting the release of substances in the body that cause inflammation.

Indications:


  • Allergic reactions
  • Autoimmune diseases
  • Rheumatic disorders
  • Asthma
  • Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
  • Inflammatory bowel diseases
  • Certain types of cancer

Contraindications:


  • Systemic fungal infections
  • Hypersensitivity to prednisolone or any of its components
  • Peptic ulcer disease
  • Severe osteoporosis
  • Uncontrolled diabetes mellitus
  • Severe hypertension

Side effects:


In order of decreasing probability: Increased appetite, Weight gain, Insomnia, Mood swings, Increased risk of infections, Hypertension, Hyperglycemia, Osteoporosis, Peptic ulcers, Cataracts

Dosing and Administration:


The dosage of prednisolone is individualized based on the condition being treated and the patient's response. The initial dose may range from 5 mg to 60 mg per day, taken orally in a single dose or divided doses. It is recommended to take the medication with food to minimize gastrointestinal discomfort. Dosage should be gradually reduced to the lowest effective dose.

Store at a temperature not exceeding 25°C (77°F).
