Pharmachologic effect:

Bisoprolol is a beta-blocker that affects the heart and circulation (blood flow through arteries and veins). It is used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure) and heart-related chest pain (angina).

Indications:


  • Hypertension
  • Chronic stable angina pectoris
  • Chronic heart failure with reduced systolic left ventricular function

Contraindications:


  • Severe asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
  • Severe bradycardia
  • Cardiogenic shock
  • Second or third-degree AV block
  • Severe peripheral arterial circulatory disorders
  • Untreated pheochromocytoma
  • Metabolic acidosis
  • Hypersensitivity to bisoprolol or any of the excipients

Side effects:


In order of decreasing probability: Fatigue, Dizziness, Headache, Bradycardia, Hypotension, Cold extremities, Nausea, Diarrhea, Constipation, Abdominal pain, Asthenia

Dosing and Administration:


The usual starting dose is 5 mg once daily. Depending on the patient's response, the dose may be increased to 10 mg once daily. In some cases, the dose may be increased to a maximum of 20 mg once daily. It is recommended to take the tablet in the morning with or without food.

Storage:


Store at a temperature not exceeding 25°C (77°F).
