Ruxolitinib is a selective inhibitor of Janus Associated Kinases (JAKs) which are involved in the signaling of a number of cytokines and growth factors that are important for hematopoiesis and immune function.Indications:
- Treatment of myelofibrosis
- Polycythemia vera
- Graft-versus-host disease
Contraindications:
- Hypersensitivity to ruxolitinib or any of the excipients
- Severe hepatic impairment
- Pregnancy and lactation
Side effects:
In order of decreasing probability: Anemia, Thrombocytopenia, Neutropenia, Dizziness, Headache, Increased liver enzymes, Hypertension, Weight gain
Dosing and Administration:
The recommended starting dose of Ruxolitinib is 20 mg orally twice daily. Dose adjustments may be necessary based on safety and efficacy. Regular monitoring of blood counts is recommended.
