Rosuvastatin is a lipid-lowering agent that selectively and competitively inhibits the enzyme HMG-CoA reductase, which is involved in the conversion of HMG-CoA to mevalonate, a precursor of cholesterol. This results in a decrease in cholesterol synthesis and an increase in the uptake of LDL cholesterol by the liver, thereby reducing overall cholesterol levels in the blood.Indications:

Contraindications:
- Hypersensitivity to rosuvastatin or any component of the formulation
- Active liver disease
- Pregnancy
- Lactation
- Severe renal impairment
- Myopathy or elevated serum transaminases
Side effects:
In order of decreasing probability: Headache, Dizziness, Constipation, Nausea, Abdominal pain, Myalgia, Asthenia, Increased liver enzymes, Rhabdomyolysis (rare)
Dosing and Administration:
The usual starting dose is 5 to 10 mg once daily, with or without food. The dose may be adjusted at intervals of 4 weeks or more, based on the patient's response and therapeutic goals, up to a maximum of 40 mg once daily.
Storage:
Store at a temperature not exceeding 25°C (77°F).
