Entecavir is an antiviral medication that inhibits the replication of the hepatitis B virus (HBV) by interfering with the viral DNA polymerase enzyme. It is used to reduce the amount of HBV in the body, thereby lowering the risk of liver damage.Indications:
- Chronic hepatitis B infection in adults with evidence of active viral replication
- Compensated liver disease
- Decompensated liver disease
Contraindications:
- Hypersensitivity to entecavir or any of the excipients
- Patients with a history of lactic acidosis

In order of decreasing probability: Headache, Fatigue, Dizziness, Nausea, Diarrhea, Dyspepsia, Insomnia, Vomiting, Increased liver enzymes, Rash
Dosing and Administration:
The recommended dose of Entecavir for adults with compensated liver disease is 0.5 mg once daily. For patients with decompensated liver disease, the recommended dose is 1 mg once daily. Entecavir should be taken on an empty stomach, at least 2 hours before or 2 hours after a meal.
Storage:
Store at a temperature not exceeding 30°C (86°F).
