Pharmachologic effect:

Cipramil is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) that increases the levels of serotonin in the brain, which helps improve mood and reduce symptoms of depression.

Indications:


  • Major depressive disorder
  • Panic disorder with or without agoraphobia

Contraindications:


  • Hypersensitivity to citalopram or any of the excipients
  • Concurrent use with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs)
  • Congenital long QT syndrome

Side effects:


In order of decreasing probability: Nausea, Dry mouth, Somnolence, Insomnia, Increased sweating, Fatigue, Dizziness, Tremor, Diarrhea, Palpitations

Dosing and Administration:


The recommended starting dose is 20 mg once daily. Depending on the patient's response, the dose may be increased to a maximum of 40 mg per day. Tablets should be taken with or without food, preferably at the same time each day.

Storage:


Store at a temperature not exceeding 25°C (77°F).
