Pharmachologic effect:

Vesicare is an antimuscarinic agent that works by relaxing the muscles in the bladder, thereby reducing the symptoms of overactive bladder such as frequent or urgent urination and urinary incontinence.

Indications:


  • Overactive bladder with symptoms of urgency
  • Increased urinary frequency
  • Urge incontinence

Contraindications:


  • Hypersensitivity to solifenacin or any of the excipients
  • Urinary retention
  • Severe gastrointestinal condition (including toxic megacolon)
  • Uncontrolled narrow-angle glaucoma
  • Myasthenia gravis
  • Severe hepatic impairment

Side effects:


In order of decreasing probability: Dry mouth, Constipation, Nausea, Dyspepsia, Abdominal pain, Urinary tract infection, Blurred vision, Fatigue, Dizziness, Headache

Dosing and Administration:


The recommended dose of Vesicare is 5 mg once daily. Based on individual response, the dose may be increased to 10 mg once daily. The tablets should be swallowed whole with water and can be taken with or without food.

Storage:


Store at a temperature not exceeding 25°C (77°F).
