Zilt is an antiplatelet agent that inhibits platelet aggregation by selectively inhibiting the binding of adenosine diphosphate (ADP) to its platelet receptor, thereby preventing the activation of the glycoprotein GPIIb/IIIa complex. This action results in the reduction of thrombus formation in the arterial circulation.Indications:
- Prevention of atherothrombotic events in patients with myocardial infarction, ischemic stroke, or established peripheral arterial disease
- Prevention of atherothrombotic and thromboembolic events in patients with atrial fibrillation
Contraindications:
- Hypersensitivity to clopidogrel or any component of the drug
- Severe liver impairment
- Active pathological bleeding such as peptic ulcer or intracranial hemorrhage

In order of decreasing probability: Common: bleeding, bruising, Uncommon: diarrhea, abdominal pain, dyspepsia, Rare: thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, allergic reactions
Dosing and Administration:
The recommended dose of Zilt is 75 mg once daily, with or without food. In patients with acute coronary syndrome, a loading dose of 300 mg may be administered, followed by 75 mg once daily.
