Pharmachologic effect:

Sirdalud is a muscle relaxant that works by blocking nerve impulses (or pain sensations) that are sent to your brain. It is used to treat spasticity by temporarily relaxing muscle tone.

Indications:


  • Muscle spasticity
  • Spasms due to multiple sclerosis
  • Spinal cord injury
  • Cerebral palsy

Contraindications:


  • Hypersensitivity to tizanidine
  • Severe liver impairment
  • Concomitant use with fluvoxamine or ciprofloxacin

Side effects:


In order of decreasing probability: Drowsiness, Dizziness, Dry mouth, Fatigue, Hypotension, Bradycardia, Nausea, Vomiting, Constipation, Liver function test abnormalities

Dosing and Administration:


The initial dose is usually 2 mg up to three times a day. The dose may be increased gradually by 2 mg to 4 mg at intervals of 3 to 4 days until the desired effect is achieved. The total daily dose should not exceed 36 mg.

Storage:


Store at a temperature not exceeding 25°C (77°F).
