Domstal is a dopamine antagonist with antiemetic properties. It works by blocking dopamine receptors in the chemoreceptor trigger zone, which helps to prevent nausea and vomiting.Indications:
- Nausea and vomiting of various origins
- Gastroesophageal reflux disease
- Dyspepsia
Contraindications:
- Hypersensitivity to domperidone or any of the excipients
- Prolactinoma
- Gastrointestinal hemorrhage, mechanical obstruction, or perforation
- Moderate or severe hepatic impairment
- Concomitant use with QT-prolonging drugs
Side effects:
In order of decreasing probability: Headache, Dry mouth, Abdominal cramps, Diarrhea, Rash, Itching, Drowsiness, Palpitations
Dosing and Administration:
The recommended dose for adults is 10 mg taken 15-30 minutes before meals, up to three times daily. The maximum duration of continuous treatment should not exceed one week.
