Pharmachologic effect:

SotaHexal is a non-selective beta-adrenergic blocker with Class III antiarrhythmic properties. It works by blocking beta-adrenergic receptors and prolonging the cardiac action potential, which helps in managing arrhythmias and reducing heart rate.

Indications:


  • Ventricular arrhythmias
  • Atrial fibrillation
  • Atrial flutter
  • Supraventricular tachycardia

Contraindications:


  • Bronchial asthma
  • Severe bradycardia
  • Second or third-degree AV block
  • Cardiogenic shock
  • Uncontrolled heart failure
  • Hypersensitivity to sotalol
  • Congenital or acquired long QT syndromes

Side effects:


In order of decreasing probability: Fatigue, Dizziness, Bradycardia, Dyspnea, Nausea, Palpitations, Hypotension, Headache, Cold extremities, Insomnia

Dosing and Administration:


The recommended initial dose is 80 mg twice daily. The dose may be adjusted based on the patient's response and tolerance, with a maximum dose of 160 mg twice daily. It should be taken orally with water, preferably on an empty stomach.

Storage:


Store at a temperature not exceeding 25°C (77°F).
