Pharmachologic effect:

Indications:


  • Acute bacterial exacerbation of chronic bronchitis
  • Community-acquired pneumonia
  • Pharyngitis/tonsillitis
  • Uncomplicated skin and skin structure infections

Contraindications:


  • Hypersensitivity to cefditoren, other cephalosporins, or any of the excipients
  • History of severe allergic reactions to penicillins
  • Carnitine deficiency or inborn errors of metabolism that may result in carnitine deficiency

Side effects:


In order of decreasing probability: Diarrhea, Nausea, Headache, Abdominal pain, Vomiting, Dizziness, Rash, Pruritus

Dosing and Administration:


The recommended dose for adults and adolescents aged 12 years and older is 200 mg to 400 mg twice daily, depending on the type and severity of the infection. The duration of treatment is typically 10 to 14 days, as prescribed by a healthcare professional.
