Thrombo ASS is an antiplatelet agent that inhibits platelet aggregation, thereby reducing the risk of thrombus formation. It works by irreversibly inhibiting the enzyme cyclooxygenase, which results in decreased synthesis of thromboxane A2, a promoter of platelet aggregation.Indications:
- Prevention of myocardial infarction in patients with high cardiovascular risk
- Prevention of stroke in patients with transient ischemic attacks
- Prevention of thromboembolic complications after surgical interventions on vessels
Contraindications:
- Hypersensitivity to acetylsalicylic acid or other NSAIDs
- Active peptic ulcer disease
- Hemorrhagic diathesis
- Severe renal or hepatic impairment
- Asthma induced by salicylates or other NSAIDs
- Pregnancy (especially in the third trimester)
- Breastfeeding
Side effects:
In order of decreasing probability: Common: Dyspepsia, nausea, vomiting, Uncommon: Gastrointestinal ulcers, bleeding, Rare: Allergic reactions, including anaphylactic shock, Very rare: Reye's syndrome in children, especially with viral infections
Dosing and Administration:
